| Gem Stone Ribbon |
|

|
| This tut was made with psp v9, but I think you will be
able to do this in other |
| versions as well. |
| |
| For this tut you will need psp and small flower tube of
your choice. Or you may |
| use the same one I used if you want.
Right click and save to your computer. |
 |
| .Lets get started... |
| Making the Gem |
| . |
| 1...Start by opening your flower tube in psp. We will use
this a little later on. |
| |
| Then open a new canvas in psp, use these settings |
| Width =400 |
| Height = 200 |
| Resolution = 200.00 |
| Raster layer layer = clicked |
| Color Depth = 16 million color (24 bits) |
| Transparent = checked |
| click ok |
| 2... Click on the Selections Tool and use this settings |
| Selection type = Ellipse |
| Mode = Add (shift) |
| Feather = 0 |
| Anti-alias = checked |
| Now draw a long oval shape on the canvas. After you are
done, |
| it should look something like this... "a oval shape
with dots going around it" |
 |
| 3...Now we will flood fill the the middle of the oval. |
| Set the foreground a color to
you would like the oval to be.. |
| I used a med. purple color, you can pick a nice color that
|
| works well with your tube. |
| Now click on the Flood fill tool and
flood fill inside the oval. |
| |
| 4....Now set the foreground color to white, then click on
the Airbrush Tool. |
| Use these setting across the top... |
| Size = 65 |
| Hardness = 50 |
| Step = 25 |
| Density = 100 |
| Thickness = 100 |
| Rotation =25 |
| Opacity = 3 |
| Blend Mode = Normal |
| Rate = 5 |
| Now use you Airbrush tool and spray just the center of the
oval. |
| Not to much, just a mist. Should look something like
this... |
 |
| |
| 5...Now click on top of your Flower Tube to make it
active. Go to the top and |
| Click Edit > then click Copy |
| Now go back to the canvas that the oval is on, click on it
to make it active. |
| Go to the top and click Edit > Paste > Paste as New
Layer. |
| |
| Now you can use the Move tool and place the flower tube in
the center |
| of the oval. Once you have it where you want it, we will
need to merge the |
| pieces together. Go to the top and click Layers > Merge
> Merge Visible |
| |
| 6...Now we will add a inner bevel to make it look more
like a stone. Go to the |
| top and click Effects > 3D Effects > then click
Inner Bevel. Use these settings... |
| Bevel = # 2 |
| Width = 9 |
| Smoothness = 48 |
| Depth = 5 |
| Ambience = 0 |
| Shininess = 17 |
| Color = white |
| Angle = 307 |
| Intensity = 40 |
| Elevation = 40 |
| Click ok |
 |
| |
| 7...We will now add the gold
around your stone. To do this, change your |
| foreground color box to Gradient.
Use these settings... |
| Set Gradient to Metal Brass
Repeats = 0 |
| Style = Linear
Invert = checked |
| Angle = 320
Click ok. |
 |
| Now go to the top and click, Selections >
Modify > then click Expand. |
| Now setting the Number of Pixels to = 5 |
| Now we will have to add a new layer. Go to the
top and click Layers > then click |
| New Raster Layer. |
| Now click on the Flood Fill tool and flood
fill the middle of the oval. Don't |
| worry about it covering up the flower you just
made, we will fix that. |
| |
| Now go to the top and click Layers >
Arrange > then click Move Down. |
| You should now be able to see your flower. Now
we will merge these 2 layers |
| together. |
| Go to the top and click Layers > Merge >
then click Merge Visible. |
| |
| 8... Now we will add a drop shadow to the
stone, but first lets get rid of |
| the marching ants around the stone. Go to the
top and click Selections > |
| then click Select None. |
| Now the shadow. Go to the top and click
Effects > 3D Effects > then click |
| Drop Shadow. Use these setting... |
| Vertical = 2 |
| Horizontal =2 |
| Opacity = 66 |
| Blur = 8.00 |
| Color = Black |
| Shadow on new layer = unchecked |
| Click ok. |
| " You are now done with the Stone. It
would be a good idea to save at this point" |
| |
| Making the strap |
| 1... First you will want to add a new layer to
your stone image. |
| Go to the top and click, Layer > then click
New Raster Layer. |
| Click on the Selections Tool and use these
settings... |
| Selection Type = Rectangle |
| Mode = Add (Shift) |
| Feather = 0 |
| Anti-alias = checked |
| Now start on the left side and draw out a
rectangle, all the way across the canvas. |
| It should look like this... |
 |
| 2... Now set the foreground to the color you
would like to make the strap. |
| Click on the Flood Fill Tool and flood fill
the center of the rectangle. |
| |
| 3... Now go to the top and click Effects >
Texture Effects> then click Blinds. |
| Use these settings.... |
| Width = 8 |
| Opacity = 25 |
| Color = Black |
| Horizontal = unchecked |
| Light from left/top = checked. |
| Click ok. |
| 4..Now we will add a drop shadow to the scrap.
Use the same drop shadow |
| setting as you did with the stone on #8 |
| |
| 5... Now Go to the top and click Layers >
Arrange > then click |
| Move down. Your strap should now be under the
stone you made. |
| |
| 6. Now go to the top and click Selections <
then click Select None |
| Now you can use the Move Tool and place the
stone where you want it to be. |
| You can set it on the center or to the side of
your strap, anywhere you like best. |
| . Once you have it where you want.
Merge you layers together |
| by going to Layers > Merge > then click
Merge Visible. |
| Now you can save as a psp file and have it to
use in your scraps when you |
| want it. |
| Hope you have enjoyed this tut. |
