Scrap Flower Buttons |
|
Level Beginners I did this tut with psp v 9 but I think you can do it on other versions as well. In this tut you will need psp, and a pattern of your choice or you can use the same one that I used. If you don't have the flower2 preset, then you can use the flower template I made. Then flood fill with the pattern. Both the flower and the pattern are on the same zip.

1.Start with opening the pattern in
psp
2.. Then open a new canvas in
psp. Use these settings...
Width = 300
Height = 300 Unit
Pixels
Resolution = 200.000
Raster Background = clicked
Color Depth = 16 million colors
Transparent = checked
Click ok
3... Click on top of your background color box.
When you click it another box will appear.
Click on the Pattern tab at the top. Now in the
current pattern box, use the little drop down arrow and set the
pattern to purple plaid. Now set the Angel to 0 and Set
the Scale to 100.
Click ok.

| Now set the foreground color box to null. |

3... Click on your Preset Shape
Tool. Use these setting across the top.
Shape = flower 2.
Anti-alias = checked
Create as vector = unchecked
Retain style = unchecked
Width = 2
4... Now go to the top and click on
Effects > 3D Effects> Then click Inner Bevel. Use these
settings...
Bevel = #2
Width = 7
Smoothness =26
Depth = 3
Ambience = 50
Shininess = 22
Color = white
Angle = 28
Intensity = 24
Elevation = 40
Click ok
Making the button
1...First click on your Magic Wand
Tool.
Use these setting across the top.
Mode = Add
Match mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Feather = 0
Anti-alias = checked
Now click on the center part of
your flower. "You should see what looks like marching ants around
the center of the flower."
Now go back to the top and click
Selections > Modify> then click Expand.
Set the numbers of pixels on = 3
Click ok.
2... You will now need to make a new layer. To do this go to the top and click.... Layers > then click New Raster Layer.
3... Now click on your foreground
color box and chose a color that you want your button to be. " I
used a dark color purple."
Now click on the flood fill tool
and flood fill the middle of your flower.
Now you can deselect the marching
ants, by going to the top, click Selections then click Select None.
Making the Button Holes.
1...First make a new layer, by
going to the top and click Layers, then click New Raster Layer.
2... Now click on your paint brush
tool, use these setting across the top.
Size = 9
Hardness =50
Step = 25
Opacity = 100
Blend Mode = Normal
Now set your foreground color to
black.
Now make two button holes side by
side my clicking 2 times with your mouse.
It should look like this...

3... Now we will need to merge the top 2 layers together. You will need to have your layer palette open, if its not, you can hit the F8 key on your keyboard.
Now we need to hide the first layer, to do this, go to the layer palette and click on the little icon that looks like a eyeball. After it is clicked, you should have a red x on it that looks like this...

Now go to the top and click Layers
> Merge > then click Merge Visible.
Now go back to the layer palette
and click on the red x to unhide that layer.
4... Now click on the Magic wand
tool, and click on the 2 black dots. You should have what looks like
ants marching around both of them.
Now click the delete key on your
keyboard.
Now go back to the top and click
Selections, then click Select None.
You should now have your 2 button
holes made.
5... Now we will make it look more
like a button, than just a flat piece. To do this, go to the top and
click, Effects > 3D Effects > and then click Inner Bevel. Use
these settings...
Bevel = #2
Width = 7
Smoothness =26
Depth = 3
Ambience = 50
Shininess = 22
Color = white
Angle = 28
Intensity = 24
Elevation = 40
Click ok
6... Now we will add a drop shadow. Go back to
the top, click Effects > 3D Effects > then click Drop Shadow.
Use these settings....
Vertical = 2
Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 51
Blur = 6.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = unchecked
Click ok.
Making the
string...
First we will want to add another layer, for
the string. Go to the top and click Layers > then click New
Raster Layer.
Now set the foreground color to what ever
color you want the string to be,
Now click on the pen tool, use these setting
across the top.
Mode = Draw lines
Connect Segments = unchecked
Create on Vector = unchecked
Show node = unchecked.
Line Style = solid
Width = 6 " you may have to adjust this
size according to how big your flower is"
Now use the pen tool to make a line from one
button hole to the next hole.
Now go back to the top and click Effects>
3D Effects and click Inner Bevel. Use these settings...
Bevel = #2
Width = 7
Smoothness =26
Depth = 3
Ambience = 50
Shininess = 22
Color = white
Angle = 28
Intensity = 24
Elevation = 40
Click ok
Now, we will add a drop shadow. Go to the top
and click Effects> 3DEffects then click Drop shadow. Use these
settings...
Vertical = 2
Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 51
Blur = 6.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = unchecked
Click ok.
Now the only thing left to do is to merge
all your pieces together. To do this, go to the top, Click Layers
> Merge then click Merge Visible.
Now you can save as a psp, for later use in
your scrap projects. Hope you enjoyed this tut. :)
